Retellings: Carousel by Pat Cummings
Here we are again, practicing how well we can retell a story we've read. Students have been reading the book, Carousel by Pat Cummings. Listen to their retellings and check to see how well they did. Did they include the: title, characters, setting, and important events?

Retellings: Jalapeno Bagels by Natasha Wing
We've been working diligently all year long on the very important comprehension skill; retelling. We've learned that a great retelling includes 3 essential elements: Characters, Setting, and Many Details.

Chango Bars -- A Recipe from the Story, Jalapeno Bagels by Natasha Wing
Listen to Jenna and Ashley read a recipe for Chango Bars. We read a great story in our reading anthologies called, Jalapeno Bagels. It tells the story of a family who operates a multicultural bakery. And the way a child selects a fresh baked good from the bakery to bring to an international day at school.
